A working session for Gambians abroad on policy priorities, fundraising, and how the diaspora plugs into the 2026 programme.
The Gambian diaspora is not an audience for the Unite Movement — it is a chapter of it. The London forum next month is a working session, not a rally, and we are organising it accordingly.
What the forum is
A half-day working session, capped at 200 attendees so the conversation can stay genuine. Three streams running in parallel: policy (where members can engage directly with the platform), fundraising (the practical mechanics of giving from abroad without falling foul of either UK or Gambian regulation), and 2026 programme (how diaspora members participate in the campaign cycle from where they live).
The chair will give a short opening, but the bulk of the day is in the streams. You will leave with concrete next steps — not a souvenir.
Why London first
London hosts the largest single concentration of Gambian diaspora members in any one city outside Banjul. Starting here means we can pilot the format with a community that already has organising infrastructure, then take what we learn to Manchester, Birmingham, Washington DC, and Toronto over the following six months.
The diaspora has been treated as a remittance pipeline for too long. You are members of this movement, with a vote in its direction. The forum exists to make that practical.
How to attend
Registration is free but required, because the venue has a hard cap. The link is on the events page. If you cannot make this date but want to be looped in for the next city: there is a separate sign-up for that on the same page.
For diaspora members who want to participate without travelling: each stream will produce a published summary within seven days of the forum, with action items and follow-up calls. You won't miss anything substantive by not being in the room.
Practical notes
Lunch is provided. The venue is step-free. There is a quiet room available for prayers. If you have any access requirements not covered here, write to the secretariat and we will arrange.
